B.O.S.S. at Fort Hamilton: What is BOSS? Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers. BOSS was developed in 1989 by the Community and Family support Center to develop programs for single soldiers. Boss was first developed with an emphasis on recreation but, was later expanded in 1991 to include all aspects of a single soldier’s life: recreation/leisure, well being, and community service.
The boss program is designed to be the collective voice for single soldiers through the chain of command. BOSS is a program for military soldiers to help the morale of single Soldiers regarding well being issues, give them opportunities to assist in the planning of recreational events, and perform community-service related projects. To sum it up in few words, the BOSS programs help develop the leaders of tomorrow.
Here at Fort Hamilton, we are small but, that just gives us a better opportunity to get involved with the single soldiers on a personal level. Our mission here at Fort Hamilton is to make this the best program that we ever had.
