Bike Expo New York
New York, N.Y. - The New York Bicycling Coalition in conjunction with 11 county tourism bureaus and the New York State Canal Corporation will have a “Bike NY State” exhibit booth at “Bike Expo New York,” May 3, 4, & 5, Basketball City, Pier 36, South Street, Manhattan NY. The 3 day “Bike Expo New York” will introduce the 32,000 metro-New York City residents participating in the “TD 5 Boro Bike Tour” to the joys of bicycling in 11 counties & the NYS Canal System north and west of New York City. “Bike Expo New York” has free admission to all.
Bicycling in New York State is a joy whether traveling in Rochester, Monroe County, Wayne County, and Oswego County along the beautiful Lake Ontario shore or wandering on low trafficked scenic county roads in Livingston County while visiting Letchworth State Park’s “Grand Canyon of the East.” Tioga County and Delaware County on New York’s southern border have bicycle routes which delight yet challenge on road, off-road, and cyclocross enthusiasts.
Through the hills and along the valleys you’ll come upon Otsego County’s Baseball Hall of Fame & Glimmerglass opera. Along the Hudson River, Columbia County’s historic mansions and restored 19th century cities and villages will bring smiles of delight to a bicyclist’s pedal strokes. Central New York Oneida County and Montgomery County link the western end (Niagara River, Monroe & Wayne Counties) of the modern & historic functioning Erie Canal to the capital district’s Albany County at the intersection of the NYS Canal System and the Hudson River. Bicycling in New York State has much to offer a bicyclist who wants to ride on off-road multi-use trails (e. g., Canalway); the wide smooth paved shoulders of NYS maintained highways; low trafficked county and municipal roadways; and mountain bike trails. You need not go anywhere beyond New York State’s borders to find demure as well as exotic bicycling adventures.
